On 6 November 2017, Infrastructure Australia added the Myalup-Wellington Water Project to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.

The project seeks to divert high saline inflows upstream from Wellington Dam in south-west Western Australia for desalination. The project involves an integrated and staged plan including measures to mitigate the effects of salinity on agricultural outputs, and other measures with economic effects.
