Infrastructure Australia, the nation's independent infrastructure advisor, has positively assessed the business cases for Melbourne Metro and the ongoing upgrade of the Murray Basin rail network.

There has been a lot of public discussion in the media this week about Australia's population growth and how much growth our cities can handle. Public debate about important national issues is healthy, but our view at Infrastructure Australia is that we need to be talking about how we grow, not how much we grow.

IA CEO Philip Davies has provided briefings on the Audit in each capital city across Australia at events run by various stakeholder partners between 22 June and 20 July. In the presentations, he discussed the results of the Audit at a national and sectoral level and discussed the approach for the 15-year Australian Infrastructure Plan.
