The Australian Government has appointed Tim Reardon as Infrastructure Australia’s Chief Commissioner, and Clare Gardiner-Barnes and Dr Gillian Miles as Commissioners.
Mr Reardon is a highly regarded and influential infrastructure and service delivery professional and has held senior executive roles in both the private and public sectors. He is the former Secretary of Transport for NSW where he oversaw one of the nation’s largest infrastructure pipelines.
He is also the former Secretary of the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet responsible for the oversight of service and infrastructure delivery across government.
Mr Reardon will start with Infrastructure Australia on 1 October 2024.
Ms Gardiner-Barnes continues her work with Infrastructure Australia after her appointment as interim Commissioner in April 2024, and prior to that a Director of the Board.
She has a strong history working across Australia in a range of portfolios within the public sector including holding senior roles with Infrastructure NSW and as a Deputy Secretary of Transport for NSW.
Ms Gardiner-Barnes will be Acting Chief Commissioner until Mr Reardon joins the agency.
Dr Miles joins Infrastructure Australia with more than 30 years of experience working across government at a national, state and local level, including as the Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner of the National Transport Commission (NTC).
She has also held senior executive roles in the Victorian public service, including as Head of Transport for Victoria.
Dr Miles was also instrumental in establishing the National Women in Transport network, which is a partnership between the NTC, Infrastructure Australia, and the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and The Arts.
