This is a proposal for upgrading Canberra’s Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, one of two major crossings over Lake Burley Griffin that are vital to the capital’s transport network. The bridge was originally constructed in the early 1960s to a 1950s design.

The business case is for a western bypass of Parkes, as part of a Newell Highway upgrade program. It aims to enable access for high productivity vehicles, improve freight efficiency and reduce congestion and safety risks in the Parkes town centre.
