The report summarises the results of detailed transport network modelling undertaken by Veitch Lister Consulting on behalf of Infrastructure Australia for the 2019 Australian Infrastructure Audit. The modelling was undertaken for the nation’s six largest urban conurbations, defined as an extended urban area. 

The Walkerston Bypass Project is for a 10-kilometre link between the Peak Downs Highway and the Mackay Ring Road to bypass Walkerston and provide a more efficient link from the northern Bowen Basin to Mackay. 

The business case is for duplicating a 10.5km section of the Bruce Highway south of Cairns to create a four-lane highway. It is the third stage of the Cairns Southern Access Corridor program.

The business case involves widening the M1 Pacific Motorway from four to six lanes in each direction, constructing a northbound off ramp from the M1 to Southport – Burleigh Road, upgrading on and off ramps, and upgrading cycling and pedestrian access.

The business case seeks to widen the nine-kilometre section of the M1 Pacific Motorway from six to eight lanes, consolidating on and off ramps, developing managed motorway technology, and extending the South East Busway to Springwood.

This assessment brief outlines the Victorian Government's proposal to widen and introduce managed motorways on the M2 road corridor from Melbourne Airport through to the M1. The project will improve travel time and reliability to Melbourne Airport.

In 2011, Infrastructure Australia assessed the Federal Highway Link to Monaro Highway – Majura Parkway project in Canberra, ACT as ‘Ready to Proceed’.

In 2014, Infrastructure Australia recommended that the CityLink Tullamarine Widening Project move from ‘New Submission’ to ‘Threshold’ on the Infrastructure Priority List.
