The report summarises the results of detailed transport network modelling undertaken by Veitch Lister Consulting on behalf of Infrastructure Australia for the 2019 Australian Infrastructure Audit. The modelling was undertaken for the nation’s six largest urban conurbations, defined as an extended urban area. 

The Walkerston Bypass Project is for a 10-kilometre link between the Peak Downs Highway and the Mackay Ring Road to bypass Walkerston and provide a more efficient link from the northern Bowen Basin to Mackay. 

The business case involves widening the M1 Pacific Motorway from four to six lanes in each direction, constructing a northbound off ramp from the M1 to Southport – Burleigh Road, upgrading on and off ramps, and upgrading cycling and pedestrian access.

The business case seeks to widen the nine-kilometre section of the M1 Pacific Motorway from six to eight lanes, consolidating on and off ramps, developing managed motorway technology, and extending the South East Busway to Springwood.

The 11km upgrade of the Bruce Highway has been added as a Priority Project on The Infrastructure Priority List.

The Bruce Highway – Deception Bay Road Interchange Upgrade project has been added to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.

The Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3A project has been added to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.

The Bruce Highway Cooroy to Curra Section D: Woondum to Curra has been added to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.
