The Western Harbour Tunnel proposal involves the construction of a motorway crossing underneath Sydney Harbour, connecting WestConnex with the Warringah Freeway.
The proposal comprises the duplication of the remaining single-track section of the Port Botany Rail Line, and delivery of a new passing loop on the Southern Sydney Freight Line, to increase capacity, efficiency and reliability.
The business case is for a new 16-kilometre motorway to connect the Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek with Sydney’s motorway network.
