Melbourne Airport Rail will connect Melbourne Airport to Victoria’s metropolitan and regional rail network, delivering ‘turn-up-and-go’ train services from the airport to Melbourne’s CBD, via Sunshine.

The project will provide the necessary infrastructure to support the transformation of Brisbane into Australia's third internationally competitive city and support critical freight networks. An updated capital cost of $4,445 million was announced publicly by the Queensland Government in late June 2012. The Queensland Government is seeking $3.33 billion of Commonwealth funding for the project.
