Regional Towns Water Quality and Security Review

Infrastructure Australia released its Report from the Regional Towns Water Quality and Security Review and public submissions were invited in January 2011.

National land freight strategy

The national land freight strategy discussion paper [PDF: 1035 KB] has now been released. Public submissions are welcome and should be sent to mail@infrastructureaustralia.gov.au. Submissions close on 30 April 2011.

National ports strategy

Submissions were sought in May 2010 [PDF: 915 KB] on a draft national ports strategy [PDF: 752 KB].

In December 2010, Infrastructure Australia and the National Transport Commission issued a draft national ports strategy [PDF: 915 KB] and background paper [PDF: 750 KB] for consideration by the Council of Australian Governments.

In its communiqué issued on 13 February 2011, the Council of Australian Governments announced that it had ‘endorsed the need for a national ports strategy. The strategy is to be an integral part of the national freight strategy that is under development. It will improve productivity, promote better long-term planning around ports and bring a greater focus on performance to Australia’s waterfronts. COAG asked the relevant Ministerial Council to complete an implementation plan for a final national ports strategy by August 2011 for out-of-session endorsement by COAG’.

Urban Water Security

Infrastructure Australia released a report [PDF: 1609 KB] identifying opportunities to enhance existing urban water supply security strategies and practical recommendations for change.
