On 19 May 2008 The Hon Anthony Albanese announced the eleven members of Infrastructure Australia - the new national body tasked with developing a blueprint for unlocking infrastructure bottlenecks and modernising the nation's transport, water, energy and communications assets.
Infrastructure Australia has 11 members, plus a Chair (Sir Rod Eddington), formally appointed by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

The Commonwealth nominated five members, including the Chair, from the private sector. One member represents local government. The Commonwealth has three representatives. The States and Territories also have three representatives.
The Infrastructure Coordinator is a statutory office holder within the Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government portfolio, and will support the work of Infrastructure Australia. The Infrastructure Coordinator, Michael Deegan was appointed by the Minister on the 22nd June 2008.
Located in Sydney, the Infrastructure Coordinator leads a small, professional team in the Office of the Infrastructure Coordinator.
