Infrastructure Australia Conference Series

Throughout 2011–2012 Infrastructure Australia is holding a series of interactive and informative events, encompassing a wide range of topics high on the infrastructure agenda.

Forthcoming Conferences

The next conference in the Infrastructure Australia series is Ports and Cities: Partnerships That Work, and is to be held on 11–13 March 2012 in Newcastle.

The conference is aimed at fostering informed debate amongst key groups about implementation of the National Ports Strategy, especially translation of the Strategy into consistent plans at various levels of geography. The conference will also be directed at developing participants’ understanding of the issues associated with the development of ports and cities, especially what needs to be done to use ports as a catalyst for economic development in cities, and re-structuring the form of cities through land use and infrastructure.

Following the Ports and Cities: Partnerships That Work conference, Infrastructure Australia will host a conference on User Pays—Exploring the Myths of Free Infrastructure. This conference aims to raise awareness about infrastructure funding challenges, and discuss both the opportunities and issues associated with a wider application of user pays models of paying for our infrastructure networks.
